Bentwaters – revised planning application

A revised planning application for Bentwaters Park (C/10/3239) is being considered by Suffolk Coastal District Council.  Full details can be found at http://www.suffolkcoastal.gov.uk/yourdistrict/planning/devcontrol/applications/bentwaters/ .  The updated planning statement proposes conditions relating to flying at Bentwaters.  Further information is in the table at paragraph 5 (page 30) of the Updated Planning Statement see http://www.suffolkcoastal.gov.uk/assets/Documents/District/Planning-DM/Bentwaters/Resubmission/Updated-Planning-Statementupdates-previous-versions.pdf .  The consultation period has now been extended to 13 June.

Review of River Users

East Anglia One windfarm – onshore cable route consultation

The RDA is engaging with Scottish Power Renewables on consultation for part of the onshore cable for the East Anglia One windfarm to be routed under the River Deben – see the extract from a recent letter sent by the RDA chairman below.  We will update this post when we receive a response.

River Deben – River User Survey results

The RDA undertook a web-based survey over two months from 26 February to 20 April 2012.  What we wanted to know was how people use the River Deben and what they like about the river and the area immediately around it, or what they would like to see changed.

There were 9 multiple choice questions, with opportunities to add free-text comment, and one open question.

Portrait of the River Deben – opportunity to comment

The Deben Estuary Partnership are looking for comments by 13 April on a detailed document they have produced about the River Deben – the aim is to inform development of the Deben Estuary Plan.  The document, based on local knowledge and information gleaned from different organisations covers: landscape, habitats, agriculture, current management of defences, marine industries, access and other topics. It is now being widely circulated so that anyone with an interest can have an input.

Deben Estuary Plan – have your say

The Deben Estuary Partnership (DEP) is pioneering a new way of planning for the future. With the support of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONB Unit and the Environment Agency, the DEP are formulating a plan which gives the local community, parish councils, landowners and local businesses more involvement in the future of their estuary. They want to know what local people think and how they see the future of the estuary.

November Forum

Another excellent Forum.

Representatives of many Deben-based organisations networked with one another on Saturday 19 November at the second RDA FORUM.

The venue was Woodbridge Cruising Club, where delegates also listened to 19 presentations
from a variety of statutory and voluntary organisations.

Topics ranged from the Deben Estuary Plan to oyster farming on the Deben, from the rock
armour at Felixstowe Ferry to scrub clearance on river walls by the Environment
Agency.  See notes below.
