East Anglia One windfarm – onshore cable route consultation

The RDA is engaging with Scottish Power Renewables on consultation for part of the onshore cable for the East Anglia One windfarm to be routed under the River Deben – see the extract from a recent letter sent by the RDA chairman below.  We will update this post when we receive a response.

A FASCINATING EVENING
“The Mystery of the Tides” was the title of a fascinating talk at the RDA’s Autumn Open Meeting, held on Friday 28th October at Walton Community Hall in Felixstowe. Even people who had spent most or all of their lives afloat were given much theoretical knowledge to support their practical observations.

Autumn meeting 28 October – “Mystery of the Tides” talk and Deben photo competition

The RDA Autumn meeting at Walton Community Hall, High Street, Walton, Felixstowe IP11 9DS will be on Friday 28 October 2011 at 7.30pm.

Gerald Jenkins will give a talk on “The mystery of the tides – an explanation of the differing times of high tides on the East Anglian and other coasts but beginning and ending at Waldringfield”.

Photographic competition: bring one Deben-related photo taken by you (A4 max).  Voting will take place on the night with a £25 prize for the photo with the most votes.

There will also be:

  • a bookstall
  • displays of Deben projects
  • glass of wine at the interval

River wall repairs at Martlesham Creek

Approximately one mile of river wall at the junction of Martlesham Creek and the Deben, opposite Kyson Point, is being strengthened and raised. Work started on Monday 11th September and is expected to last about six weeks. The work is being funded by both the landowner and the Environment Agency. Whilst construction is taking place the footpath is closed and there is no diversion. The clay for the work is being dug from the adjacent farmland in order to save cost and avoid the environmental damage caused by hauling in the material in lorries.

Suffolk Coastal District Council is consulting on an appraisal of the Woodbridge Conservation Area – you can view the consultation document online by clicking on the link below www.suffolkcoastal.gov.uk/yourdistrict/planning/policy/conservation/woodbridge or at the SCDC offices on Melton Hill, Woodbridge.   The consultation period runs to 6 May 2011.
